Listening to me really works! I’m living proof!

Bet you didn’t think you hear from me again so soon, did you?  Sorry to burst your bubble readers, but I’m now going to back up that bullshit I fed you a couple of hours ago with some proof.

Thanks to my shameless plugs, begging for attention and the teeny bit of “writing” I do here, I have more of my success to share with you.  No, I wasn’t Freshly Pressed for my previous post. DAMN IT! But, the day is still young, and I can always hope.  Whatever, moving on.

What I’m talking about is I have been gifted two awards by my fellow bloggers!  One just a few hours ago, and actually one over the weekend, but I was just so busy with book signings and answering fan mail, it got buried under all of my other awards.

And, thanks to Dave, Steve, Barbara, and Josh, my faithful fan base.  Through their blind devotion to me and their internet savvy, they now have somehow pushed my artificial follower count up over 700.  I love you guys!  A free 12 pack for all 4 of you!

Okay, On to the awards!

First up, The Reader Appreciation Award~ From the darling Jessica at Mittens Kittens!  She’s just such a sweetie pie.  Adorable NaNoWriMo Ninja!  Thanks Jessica~!

You know how all of this works.  I must answer some probing questions, and then pass this trophy on to some of you who I myself appreciate reading. Questions first, then the giving.

- Do you watch television?

Uh, that would be a yes.  What are my current favorites? You didn’t ask, but there may be a quiz so-Walking Dead, Project Runway and the new sit com Go On are my top three.
- Who is your favourite author?

This is a tough one.  I love Stephen King’s non horror stuff.  The Green Mile is one of my favorite books.  But, Jane Austen is a perrennial badass.

- Do you like 80′s movies?

Honey, I am an 80’s movie.  I graduated high school in 1983, so I was approaching maximum density before Spicoli was having pizza delivered to class.  And yes, I could eat a Ziggy Piggy.  Anyone who’s old enough to get all those references, raise your hand if you can still lift your arm above your head.
- What social issue bothers you?

Like, people who RSVP that they’re coming to your wedding, and like don’t show up.  What–ever!  Oh, and those who show up, but don’t bring a gift.  Like, I’m so sure.

- What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

One time at a trade show for food service vendors ( I used to be a baker), I came upon this heavenly table heaping with fried food. I picked up an onion ring, and popped it in my mouth.   It refused to yield to my teeth,  so with my mouth full, I asked the nice lady behind the table when deep-fried rubber bands came into fashion.  She giggled and said, “That’s calamari”.  Being a yokel from Hooterville, I replied “What’s calamari”.  Another chuckle.  “Squid”.

Mouth falls open, unchewed squid parts fall to the floor. “Gaaaaahhh!  Who would eat that?”
- How do you like your eggs?

Duh~ In my cakes, cookies and brownies.  The whole “science” of baking just doesn’t work without them.

- When did you discover blogging?

As a reader, my first blog crush was and still is James Lileks.  Blogger Extraordinaire, writer, columnist and now voice over artist.  I urge you to check him out at Lileks.com.  The Institute Of Official Cheer could keep you busy for hours.  If you love old cookbooks, post cards, kitchy Americana and killer writing, this guy is for you.
- Why do like to blog?

Because it gives me all the things that I’m missing in real life.  Love, attention, a sense of belonging, and being appreciated.  Pffffftttttt….as if!  Anyone who’s read me for more than 3 minutes knows I’m living a charmed life.  I like to blog because it’s fun.  It’s a great way to get creative without making a mess.  A lot less hassle than sewing a bunch of pieces together and hoping they fit, or spending all day cooking something, and praying no one has to go to the hospital.

Oh yeah, and I have a constant and insatiable need for attention and approval.

So, now to the good part.  Who do I appreciate reading?  That’s a tough one.  Tough to pin it down. I read and follow so many wonderful blogs, it’s hard just to pick a few.  But I’ll choose some new friends that I haven’t nominated before for something else…..Let’s seee…..And the nominees are..

The Opposite Of Bestseller

Words And Other Things

Oh Hi Asia!

Now on to my other major award.  Talk about a nice guy!  He’s recently Freshly Pressed, he’s recently unmasked, and he’s just awesomesauce with flavor packets (his words)  Mr. Edward Hotspur, one of my first ever followers, has given me this shiny bauble:

The “Blog of the Year” award is a little different from some other awards, because you accumulate stars.

Here are the ‘rules’ for this award:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience.

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Okay, this one’s just too good to share, so I’m not gonna give it to anyone.  Not really, that would be mean!  Here’s my picks!

  1. I am honored. And I always hate to do this, but I have no place on my blog theme to put awards, and my computer wants to die when I do links. So I gave up trying to accept awards, even though I obvioulsy desreve lots of them.
Also, my whole blog is about me, so answering questions about myself seems like overkill. But thanks. I know you meant it with love.
Also, I have this theory that WordPress keeps these awards going around to keep the smartest people on the planet… us bloggers… busy, so we don’t end up ruling the world.

  2. Remember Tom Hanks in the movie Big? The part where he puts the caviar in his mouth, then lets it fall out of his mouth, and tries to clean his tongue off? I see you making the exact same faces, and doing the exact same thing with the calamari. And that is a very funny visual in my mind. :-) Congrats on the award, and thank you for 2012er, you are really very sweet, and I think you’re the best!

    • You told me yesterday that you are new to this, but you will find that the bloggers here at the old Word Press are really good at spreading the warm fuzzies. Just keep doing what you’re doing, and pretty soon you’ll have a shelf full of awards yourself!

  3. YES! Love it! I just yelled out “I just won a major award!” and the people nearby think I’ve gone crazy.

Thanks for this one, Diva. I`m clearing a space on my virtual mantel right now.

  4. Also, I would have to hire a staff like you do to take care of the kids, dog, car and house. That is the only way I can figure you blog, read, comment, etc. etc . . . and all so WELL! ‘Fess up. You have a staff.

    • 1-Kids grown up and gone
2-Husband and dog are BFFs and constant playmates
3-Husband is also kick ass go-to housework partner
4-Job is boring and slow and I sit in front of a computer all day.
      5-Wish I had a staff. *sigh*

Thank you so much for thinking I’m more than one idiot doing this!

    • We all have to stick together, right? So many great blogs and people out there. Just have to give the ones I like a shout out when I get the chance. Thank you for dropping by. :-)

Well.....let's hear it!
