Daily Prompt, circle of Five
by michelle w. on December 12, 2012
A writer once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If this is true, which five people would you like to spend your time with?
Thanks for the great idea, Nishad!
Oh boy. This was a tough one…….Hmmmmm…..Who do I want to be when I grow up? Who should be my 5?
Well, …..I want to be worshipped and adored by friends and strangers the world over. I want to be renowned for my badass skillz. I want to be admired for my beauty and my sense of humor. When I’m dead, I want to be remembered for my kindness and generosity. Being read for generations to come because my writing stands the test of time wouldn’t suck either.
I realize this is a pretty steep hill to climb, and at my advanced age, I better start hiking, as reaching the top already isn’t looking like a possibility.
So, I will populate team Cheeky Diva Inner Sanctum with women I admire for various reasons. Since this is all hypothetical anyway, just ignore the fact that some of them are dead.
-To be beautiful, elegant, charming and much-loved, I would like to follow in the footsteps of my ever glamorous friend, Grace Kelly~
While I may wow people on entering a room,(Thanks Grace) I won’t be able to hold their attention if my conversation is insipid. So, I will learn to entertain my friends and admirers by taking cues from funny lady Carol Burnett.
Because I would like to host as well as attend fabulous parties, and have guests talk about my dishes for years to come, I will enlist the help of my hero that you’ve heard me fawn over before, Julia Child. Of course, Julia will be the one to kick me in butt when I feel sorry for myself, and remind me that I’m never too old to start something new.
To help me hone the craft of writing to the level that is worthy of being published and read for generations, I’ll always stick with my pal Jane Austen. I’ve read quite a few of her books more than once. How could a woman from that era continue to be such a sharp-witted, timeless badass all these years later? I’m glomming onto her to find out.
Saving the best for last, as I’m always prone to do, just to make sure you do read all the way to the end, I will need a friend who is kind, generous, giving and selfless. Someone who is beloved by friends, family and strangers who have been helped by this person. Someone whose reputation for goodness, sweetness and delightful charm precedes them where ever they go. I don’t know any famous people well enough to give them this honor. In real life, I know many people who fill this seat. What I’m going to have to do with this one is make it a temporary honor. My Honored Throne Of Kindness will have a new person sitting in it each month, so these folks I love can spend 30 whole days trying to teach me how to do it right.

Great list!
Thank you! I need to go and read everyone else’s.
Very nice choices. I knew Carol Burnett and Julia Child would be on your list for sure. Grace Kelly is beautiful, and maybe someday I will read something written by Jane Austen (don’t throw anything at me).
I won’t throw anything at you. I didn’t read her until my former life became so unbearable that I was drawn into the world of public domain books via a smartphone. I have read Pride & Predudice three times.
That seems to be the “go to” book for everyone. Maybe I should start there. Will I drool over Mr. Darcy?
Hmmmm, only if you are watching the movie. The version with Colin What’shisname, and only if you think he’s hawt. What I like about the way she writes is her satirical view on her characters.
Just put it on my Nook. Might have to take a gander at it this winter.
This was awesome… Good choices.
I would end up with Groucho Marx, Benjamin Franklin, Mickey Mouse, some random alien and Conan. Most likely.
See, you could do these challenges if you really wanted to. Nice list.
What does doing these prompts do for me? Are they put up somewhere else also?
Well, for me, it gives me a way to force my creativity in a direction. They expose your blog to over 38,000 readers who are following it. That in itself is pretty cool. I follow the blog and have the posts delivered to my email, so I see them first thing in the morning.
So they put your posts up on their blog for their followers to see? And what if 38,000 people all write something?

Here’s the link to today’s post.
Yes, if you link to the Daily Prompt in your blog post it automatically ends up on their post. I have gotten a lot of new followers and readers doing this.
I’ve seen as few as 3 and as many as 45. Never 38,000.
I will have to check this out. But not today. I have to prep for writing class. It’s the last one. Don’t let me forget.
Okie dokie. Should I tweet you a reminder?
That might work…
This list is soooooooooo you. But, wait . . . you didn’t put me on your list. Grrrrrrrr.
I wanted to be fair, so I didn’t want to put in people from my real world and hurt the feelings of someone who I might have left out. Would you like a stint on my Throne Of Kindness? There’s an opening next fall, after my sister, sister in laws, mom in laws, and a few best gal pals.
