Daily Prompt~Toot your horn

Here’s today’s prompt:

Most of us are excellent at being self-deprecating, and are not so good at the opposite. Tell us your favorite thing about yourself.

My favorite thing about myself?  For a reasonable person without a ridiculously over-inflated ego, this should be a difficult task. First to find a favorite thing about ourselves, and then God forbid shout it from the rooftops.

We all know that’s not me.  What’s my favorite thing about me?  Is it that I’m beautiful and amazingly well-preserved for my advanced age?  That I’m worshipped and adored by dozens the world over?  That I’m the most compelling speaker I know?  How about that I’m humble?

People love me! Right? Hey wait! Where the hell are you going? Get back here!

People love me! Right? Hey wait! Where the hell are you going? Get back here!

Buaaahaaaahaaa!

Of course, I kid.  I’m  none of those things.  Least of all humble.

But today’s prompt is so appropriate for what’s on my mind today.  I’ve been thinking a lot about my kids.  All grown up and doing their own thing.  All chasing their dreams as young adults should do.  That’s all well and good.  I’m proud of all of them, and I’m a lucky mom.

But I would have to say that my most favorite thing about me is my relationship with them.  They still come to me for advice, include me in fun and new stuff they run across, and yes, I’m tooting here-they think I’m a badass.  I even woke up this morning to see that one of them is now following me on Twitter.

I’ve been thinking about writing a post with the working title “Sons Of Cheeky Diva~ What kind of movie would that be?”  I haven’t written that yet, but please stay tuned today for a different post that I have written about my relationship with my great kids.  After a little tweaking, it should be ready to post.

Thanks for another great prompt idea, Michelle!!

  2. We all live through our kids… or else we are doing it wrong. For one thing, it means your DNA is going to continue to exist. Also, you can only do some things once in life, like your first trip to Disneyland. The closest you can get to living that again is your kid’s first trip to Disneyland.

    • :-( I’ve never been there. My ex husband wasn’t one for vacations of any kind. We did manage to take the kids to Worlds Of Fun once, and two of them liked it a lot. Me and my middle son aren’t into rides. Not a fan of screaming and throwing up in public. So we sat out a lot of the day taking in the other sights at the place.

  11. Your kids are really great. When you consider all that has happened in your life, you still kept a solid foundation under all of you. That’s so nice that they think you are “badass,” because you are! They must be really proud of you that you are writing for FOG, too.

My kid sent two texts to me today. One was that he bought the arcade classic “Bubble Bobble” for his xbox, and he said he was almost crying his eyes out when he heard the music, remembering being a kid and playing the game with me. The next text was: “You used to be a super hero to me ya know.”

    Kids!!

Well.....let's hear it!
